3 rules of minoxidil

Thinking about trying Minoxidil, or already using it?

These three rules can make all the difference to your results 🩺

1️⃣ Don’t stop too soon. Hair restoration takes time, and it can take several months before noticeable improvements occur.

2️⃣ Be consistent. Missing doses or using Minoxidil irregularly may reduce its effectiveness, so daily use as prescribed is important.

3️⃣ Know the cause of your hair loss. Minoxidil supports hair growth, but it is most effective when used as part of a personalised treatment plan based on an accurate diagnosis.

SMP day with Kurt at MedHair

We recently spent the day with Kurt as he performed Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) procedures at MedHair 🩺 SMP is a non-surgical treatment that uses specialised pigments to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles, creating the illusion of greater hair density. Suitable for men and women experiencing thinning hair, pattern baldness, alopecia or visible scarring, it can also complement the results of a hair transplant. These photos capture the first session with our patient, and we look forward to sharing their progress once all three sessions are complete. Interested in SMP? What is telogen effluvium?

Telogen effluvium is a type of temporary hair loss triggered by a shock to the body, such as major surgery, childbirth, severe illness or significant stress. It usually appears around two to three months after the trigger, as more hair follicles than normal shift into their resting phase and shed. Unlike pattern hair loss, it causes diffuse thinning across the scalp rather than a specific area, and the scalp itself remains healthy. Most cases resolve on their own within three to six months. If your hair loss feels sudden or widespread, a proper diagnosis is the first step 🩺 Book a consultation via our website here.

Understanding Traction Alopecia

Traction alopecia is hair loss caused by repeated tension on the follicles, often from tight ponytails, braids, weaves or hair extensions. Early signs include thinning around the hairline and temples, along with tenderness or small bumps on the scalp. Caught early, it is often reversible simply by easing the tension and adjusting hairstyle habits. Left unaddressed, the follicles can scar and hair loss may become permanent. At MedHair, a proper diagnostic assessment helps determine whether your hair loss is caused by traction, and what treatment path will help 🩺 Book a consultation to better understand your unique case.

How many grafts do I need for a transplant?

Graft numbers are determined by your degree of hair loss, the area being treated and your donor supply, assessed through a proper diagnostic consultation, not a generic estimate. Most patients start at 1,000 grafts and above for the FUE procedure, though some require significantly more depending on their goals. At MedHair, graft count is calculated by a qualified doctor, based on your individual scalp and hair pattern 🩺 Book a consultation to find out what your hair restoration journey requires.
